My Dear Osun citizens, I hope this broadcast finds you exceedingly well, in good health, joy and peace as we look forward towards the smooth conduct of the Local Government Elections in Osun State scheduled for February 22, 2025.
I am profoundly grateful to all Osun People, residents in the state and in Diaspora especially the Leadership of the participating political parties, political aspirants, and other critical stakeholders for their determined cooperation and support towards the forthcoming elections.
It symbolizes the individual and collective drive of a people who are committed to nurture and strengthen democratic institutions at the grassroots. It is also a unique opportunity for enfranchise Osun citizen to exercise their civic duties and responsibilities in electing 30 Local Government Chairmen, and 332 councilors to fill vacant positions at the Local Government as provided for by the OSSEIC law of 2022.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission is determined to play its avowed role as impartial arbiter in the electoral process in compliance with relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the OSSIEC Law of 2022.
The legal algorithms that bind us as a Commission are founded on the principles of fairness, equity and justice in ensuring that the elections are free, fair, credible and transparent.
